Editorial policy
competitiveintelligencetools.com is an independent editorial site covering competitive intelligence software: rankings, standalone reviews & the knowledge base behind them. This page is the rulebook the site holds itself to.
What gets covered
Coverage follows two filters: the tool belongs to the competitive intelligence category (monitoring, enablement, win-loss, or intelligence feeds), and buyers are searching for it. Tools enter the ranking through the scoring methodology; a vendor request alone leaves a tool exactly where the scores put it.
The review lifecycle
Every review moves through the same stages, and each page states its stage at the top. On file: verified facts from vendor documentation & public records, published while testing runs. Scored: the five-pillar verdict, published when the test cycle completes. Re-validated: scores re-checked on a rolling cycle and re-scored after material events like acquisitions, pricing changes & product sunsets.
Independence & money
Scores settle before any commercial conversation starts, and a fee has zero route into a score. Where an outbound link pays a referral fee, the page discloses it near the link. Vendors may correct factual errors before publication; they see scores when the page goes live, and placement in the ranking carries zero price.
Sourcing standards
Claims trace to testing, named documents, or practitioners we spoke to. Statistics carry sources. Quotes match their source word for word, with alterations marked. Where evidence is thin, the page says less rather than padding the gap.
Corrections
Factual errors get corrected in place, with the fix noted in the page's dateline. Report one through the contact page; corrections get answered ahead of everything else in the mailbox.
Two adjacent documents complete the rulebook: privacy & terms covers data handling, and the free tools list gets the same evidence standards as the paid rankings.
